Meet the Canadian BBQ Boys

Canadian BBQ Boys is the industry-leading BBQ Cleaning and Repair Company that has cleaned over 15,000 BBQs since they launched in 2015. Canadian BBQ Boys was founded by two University of Guelph Business Students, Michael Sutton and his Business Partner Matt.


They discovered the need for this service when Michaels's parents tried to find a company to come out and clean & repair their BBQ. They had so much trouble finding someone to come do the service, and when they finally did the company did a very bad job and charged a ton of money. Michael and Matt spent the summer knocking on almost 3000 doors in their first year to get their first 300 customers.

The following year, they hired their first cleaning crew and rebranded from M&M BBQ Boys to Canadian BBQ Boys. This was their first big step into entrepreneurship as they noticed they had something good going on. Canadian BBQ Boys managed to scale the business in their second year and grew the business 3x that year!

In the 3rd year of the Canadian BBQ Boys Journey, they had the opportunity to go on the TV Show “Dragon’s Den.” They went out and auditioned for the show and they ended up getting on a waitlist so they could do their pitch. They ended up doing their pitch and managed to get a deal with Jim Treliving. Being on Dragons Den helped spread the word about BBQ cleaning and the importance of getting your BBQ professionally cleaned. 

Fast forward a little, 2020, the year of the COVID-19 Pandemic came, Mike was running the business on his own after buying out his partner in 2019. He had also graduated in 2019 and Canadian BBQ Boys is his full focus. 2020 happened to be a great year for Canadian BBQ Boys, there were challenged no doubt, but Mike managed to get through all of those and they had noticed a skyrocket in demand for the service and they had more leads than they knew what to do with. The customers were absolutely loving it! Word spread quickly and with the high standards that Canadian BBQ Boys set, they ended up having such an increase in leads, they had more than they knew what to do with. 

Fast forwarding some more, to this year, 2023 Canadian BBQ Boys are off to a great start, with a full team of 15 sales reps and over 60 BBQ Cleaners offering services all over Southern Ontario, and the Ottawa Region. Canadian BBQ Boys and their loyal customers continue to clean BBQs, oftentimes yearly or even multiple times per year. Helping increase grill safety, grill performance and the longevity of their BBQ. Canadian BBQ Boys has now also launched their franchising system and are currently selling franchises all across Canada.
